A keyring is the hardest test of an engraving. It lives in a pocket against keys and coins, gets dropped, and is handled every day — which is exactly where a printed or vinyl mark gives up. Everything on this page is marked into the material itself, so there is no layer to wear through.

What the laser does depends on what it hits. On stainless steel it oxidises the surface to a permanent dark grey. On anodised brass it lifts the colour to leave a bright figure. On full-grain leather it compresses the grain into a deboss you can feel. On wood it burns, and the mark deepens slightly as the piece ages.

Pet tags are engraved on both faces at no extra cost — a name on the front and your phone number on the back. Most of these are stocked, so an order placed before 11am on a weekday can be collected the same evening.
